Document Imaging is for working on 1-bit Black and White images such
as faxes and scanned in documents. These features are only
available if a 1-bit black and white image is
selected. Below is list of items on the submenu that will
be displayed. Click the items for detailed descriptions.
Smooth
Smooth: This feature smooths the text in scanned
text documents; smoothing the bumps and filling in the nicks of a
1-bit black and white image. The behavior of this feature
can be modified by using the Smooth dialog displayed after selecting
the menu option. Note: If a region is selected,
only the selected region will be changed by this
feature. If no region is selected, the whole image will be processed. |
Line Remove: This feature removes horizontal and
vertical lines from scanned text documents. If the lines
pass through text, the parameters can be set to remove or preserve
the text. The behavior of this feature can be further
modified by using the Line Remove dialog displayed upon selecting the
menu item. To "fine-tune" the performance of
this feature, try modifying the values for Wall, Gap Length and Variance. Note: If
a region is selected, only the selected region will be
changed. If no region is selected, the whole image will be processed. |
Dot Remove: This feature finds and removes dots,
specks, and blobs of various sizes in 1-bit documents. The
dots, specks, and blobs may or may not be all black. The
behavior of this feature can be modified by using the Dot Remove
dialog displayed upon selecting the Dot Remove menu option. Note: If
a region is selected, only the selected region will be
changed. If no region is selected, the whole image will be processed. |
Inverted Text: This feature finds and inverts areas
of inverted text in a 1-bit black and white image. Inverted
text is commonly found in scanned text documents. The
behavior of this feature can be modified by using the Inverted Text
dialog displayed upon selecting the corresponding menu item. Note:If
a region is selected, only the selected region will be changed. If
no region is selected, the whole image will be processed. |
Border Remove: This feature removes borders from
1-bit images. To "fine-tune" the performance of
this feature, try modifying the values for White Noise Length, Border
Percent and Variance. |
Hole Punch Remove: This feature detects and removes hole
punches, common in scanned documents. Hole punch
configurations may consist of 2 or more holes. The
behavior of this feature can be modified using the Hole Punch Remove
dialog displayed upon selecting the corresponding menu item. Note: If
a region is selected, only the selected region will be changed by
this feature. If no region is selected, the whole image
will be processed. |
